Urban Tells

URBANtells is a core collective of three media artists whose work focuses on the intricacies between the architecture, cityscape and the human and cultural geography found within any city. URBANtells’ art practice involves the use of various forms of low and high technology to engage the residents, transients and lost inhabitants of the city. The underlying concern of the collective is to use the various forms of technology in ways that foster, collect and redistribute urban culture in or as close to real time, to classify experiences, and to encode and communicate them symbolically through wireless transmitted linear and non-linear narratives.

Autumn (FALL)
2B Gallery, Budapest. HU

Autumn (FALL) is a delicate contraption that uses fans, motors, amplified paper, chocolate coins and their foil to create an unexpected collision of sound and image. Viewers are asked to take a chocolate coin, eat the chocolate and then toss the foil onto the surface of the piece. Fans blow the skittering pieces of foil across an amplified paper surface and a camera below the paper transmits the shadowy image of the foil's movement to a video projection on the wall.
